Health and Safety for employers

In general, health and safety laws apply to all businesses. As an employer, or a self-employed person, you are responsible for health and safety in your business. Health and safety laws are there to protect you, your employees and the public from workplace dangers.
What the law requires here is what good management and common sense would lead employers to do anyway:
that is, to look at what the risks are and take sensible measures to tackle them.
There are  areas of Health and Safety which are common to all businesses. However some additional areas may apply to you, depending on the nature of your business.  This can be checked here
As an introduction, the Health and Safety Executive has published this handy guide to get you started
